Calling all members with info on John Lobb's museum calf. Where do I get it or something very similar. I only have experience with apholstery leather (like my favourite Elmogrand) so am almost clueless when it comes to shoe leathers.

There is something that sets museum calf apart from the other leathers that Lobb or EG, etc uses and I am not just talking about the varigated appearance. Museum is both softer and more supple yet thicker and sturdier (if that makes sense) with such a fine surface texture and looking at a swatch (in Lobb store), it appears to be dyed throughout unlike most other shoe leathers I have seen.

Where do I source museum calf hides? I am about to call AA Cracks and don't want to sound like someone who is going to waste their time, but figure the might carry it or something similar.

Any info is graetly appreciated.

‘Museum Calf’ (as JLP calls it) or ‘Radica’ (as the tannery calls it) is an aniline calf with a hand-applied antique finish, produced by the Italian tannery Ilcea.

As far as I know, there are minimum orders as the batches have to be dyed individually. Contact your nearest rep or the tannery directly.
