Hey Guys,

I'm a winter complexion. So not all colors will look good on me.
I'm looking for a shirt and tie that would go with a black suit (Hilfiger). However the black suit has got very subtle pinstripes of blue / grey running through it. Almost un-noticeable.

Avoid black suits in general (search the forum for several thread dedicated to this); charcoal or midnight navy are almost always (always?) preferable if you need to go dark. That said, if you already own it, try a white shirt w/ a navy, grey, or perhaps burgundy tie.

I am proud to say that this will be my first post on Style Forum so I hope that I can be helpful in my virgin journey. With a dark suit whether it be navy, black or charcoal you can never go wrong with a tie with a similar hue. I always love the look of black or grey (of any shade) ties paired with a black suit. However, sometimes woven silk ties get lost with gabardine wool suits. I always recommend trying to put some extra texture into the look. I tend to reach for silk knit ties. They add a great deal of texture and depth to a suit. They are especially nice in the spring and summer months because of their relaxed nature.
