Shades of brown with grey suit?

I'm looking at a used pair of Allen Edmonds by they are a very light, almost sandy mustard brown if that makes sense. Would these shoes be acceptable with a grey suit at a job interview for example? Or should I stick to dark/burgundy brown for the grey suit? I've done some searches but everything I found was contradictory. I was just wondering if a concenous answer yet?

Brown and grey is a sharp look but definitely should not be worn to a job interview. It's way too foppish for that.

It sounds like you are looking at Allen Edmonds in the Bourbon or Walnut color. These will look great with certain shades of gray. But I agree with Willin - I wouldn't do it for a job interview.

One caveat - if you are interviewing for a marketing / creative director type position, it might work. But I would check with the office environment to see if their employees lean towards more a traditional dress code.

Thanks guys. Yea looking at the pics I'd say they are walnut color, if even a bit lighter. Can I wear dark dark brown with grey? Would all of this info be applicable to a navy suits as well ?
I've always heard shoes should be as dark or darker than the suit but I don't know how relevant that rule is anymore.

I prefer dark brown, it coordinates without being flashy...

plus there's suede too which makes a darker color a little more casual

tan or walnut can work but IMO it's harder so pair, so if you're new at this, stick to plain dark brown.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I am going to look for a dark pair of shoes for the first pair. A couple more questions, has black shoes with grey or navy suit fallen by the wayside or is still acceptable? I may be able to snag a cheap(ish) pair of Allen Edmonds Strawfuts but they are black, I do however really like the look. Lastly, I know Allen Edmond is quality brand, but what are some others in a similar price range. I really am new to the formal/business attire. Thanks again.

A few years ago in Italy you'd see nothing but brown shoes with navy or gray, even the darkest of charcoal grays.
