Tell me about it. Shell does that to people. I bid up to $350 on these before I gave up. Seller's reserve must have been $400.

No, It's a good thing the reserve was that high. I hit my limit and was done (and now don't have to explain the acquisition to my wife

With good reason - those would have been too small for you!

Did the PTBs work out OK with regular socks?

Look at the heel. Calf leather has a full rubber heel. Cordovan has a combination heel (if that's what you call it). The shoes in the picture has the cordovan heel.

The Cordovan is part number #4889.

He's in the clear.


Yeah, I had picked up that heel tip a while back. I'm impressed at your knowledge of part numbers however.
