Up for sale/trade is the 103BSP jean from Real Japan Blues ( RJB ) out of Nagano, Japan. This particular pair is a collaboration with Self Edge. The tagged size is 29x36, though I had them hemmed by Self Edge to a 34" inseam, so that after soaking they would shrink down to my desired length. I have soaked them in warm water for a couple hours and achieved a decent amount of shrinkage - please check my post-soak measurements below. Other than the soaking, they are brand new. I still have the tags which I will include with the jeans.
It's a slim fit, tapered leg jean that incorporates 13.75oz rope-dyed unsanforized denim made from Zimbabwe cotton. Similar to the 105BSP, the model is riddled with all sorts of insane detailing; such as the reinforced (with extra denim) pockets, black dyed cowhide leather patch, copper RJB rivets, and beautiful arctuate stitching. The combination of all of these elements will lead to super, high contrast fades for the wearer.
The denim on these has been developed by Flat Head only for Real Japan Blues. It is similar to Flat Head's 3XXX denim in terms of how hairy it becomes after the first soak but has a deeper indigo color straight off. The dye method yields an extremely high contrast fade which one would expect from Flat Head's denim, yet it's quite different considering it's pure indigo and the cotton is from Zimbabwe.
DETAILS
Fabric: Zimbabwe Cotton Fiber Denim
Weight: 13.75 oz.
Fit: Slim Tapered
Unique features:
Double length knife pocket
Unsanforized denim
Rope dyed Japanese selvedge
Universal zip-fly
Available for $360 at Self Edge (now sold out)
If you want to see how this exact pair will look after years of abuse, check out this Fade Friday entry on Heddels. Fade Friday
The current post-soak measurements are as follows:
Waist: 15.5" (waist aligned) / 15" (with natural dip at front)
Thigh: 10.5"
Knee to hem: 7.5"
Inseam: 32.5"
I would estimate that there is still a little more shrinkage that could be attained through another vigorous warm soak, as I did not agitate the water much at all, but there is no harm in wearing these as is until they absolutely need a cleaning. I was being careful so as to not lose much indigo, which they haven't. These are beautiful jeans, but I prefer the fit of my Strike Gold 1105's.
Please don't hesitate to send me questions or offers of trades. I'm located in Canada, and will ship within Canada and the US for no extra charge. Thanks for looking!
