Brooks brothers is a good choice as well (via Peal).

Related: C&J for Peal cordovan cap toe boots in burgundy following first wear - required a coat of Saphir out of the box but looking great now!

Do you have a recommendation for a good overseas retailer? I came across Pediwear the other day and it seemed like a good deal. Any other I should check out? I'm trying to find a pair of Cordovan Skye 2 boots, however, and it doesn't seem like those are regularly stocked by online retailers.

I just got notice that Purdey started their 30% off sale : http://www.purdey.com/clothing-accessories/sale/

At $454 (without VAT) + free shipping to US, I instakopped their in-house C&J Islay.

700

See some prev discussions about CJ's own Islay vs CJ for Purdey and Richard James in-house versions here, here, and here

Gentlemen,

I just want to affirm publicly that C&J shoes and boots are amongst the finest footwear I have ever handled and worn.

When you figure in the fact that C&J can consistently be found at deep discounts, it makes them all the more appealing.

Thanks.

I'll ditto for the quality - especially when you consider the bang-for-the-buck ratio - but I rarely see them at deep discount. Even though I'm thrilled at the price I'm getting my Purdey CJ's at - I've been longing for a pair of Islay's for a long time - that's a good price, but not a deep discount one.

Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough or in the right places?

I think the big discount are all from someone else that CJ manufacture for (BB, Paul Stuart, Barneys New York etc) these days

I feel like C&J used to be a step up, price wise, from Alden but now they seem to be right in the same range. I far prefer C&J

Precisely. I recently scored my CJ high boots from BB for cheaper than AE and Alden.

Not to mention Ebay. There seems to be a steady flow of C&J boots and shoes at deep discounts as well.

@razl

The price you paid for your newest acquisition is better than most other makers and their equivalents.
