Question on Peal wholecuts...

After reading the thread which seemed to unequivocally settle the fact that Peal shoes are made by C&J, it got me thinking about these wholecuts:

Has anyone tried/seen them? I'm also contemplating the C&J Weymouth, and though these Peals are tan they're intriguing. Do you know if they're on the 337 last? Elegant in person? Opinions?

Don't know what thread you are referring to, but not all Peal shoes are made by C&J. In fact, majority are made by Alfred Sargent.

Is the "one row of nails in the heel" marker generally a fair indicator of c&j manufacture?

Have you handled both? I've seen/tried on the Weymouth and I'm going to try to locate these Peals at a Brooks near me in the next few days...

i just bought these wholecuts on sale at BB on rodeo drive...but not in this color.
mine are a very dark brown, and the leather is shiny almost to the point of looking like patent leather.
they are gorgeous.
plus, they were 50% off!!

they had these lighter brown ones too, but not in my size.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up! That's my local Brooks, so I think a trip over there is in order.

definitely. they had a whole table full of peals at 50%. i got the wholecuts and a beautiful captoe. i recall they had some suedes and chukas too.
