Just a sizing heads-up for you W+H fans... the white hoodie is "regular large" and the gray hoodie is "regular medium". I'm 6'2 / 39" chest / 31" waist and you can see which fits better

looks like the white one is going on the buy/sell thread soon.

A lot of the regular posters have a very good sense of who they are, stylistically. There's no sense knocking Get Smart for having stylistic staples; they're what give him a consistent, personal look that immediately says something about who he is and how he wants to present himself. Get Smart wouldn't be Get Smart without the repetition. Chris, likewise, wears the same few "looks" all the time, but again, I don't find it "boring"--it's a consistent stylistic approach that he's made his own. I like to think that I have a similarly consistent approach, though it's less individual and notable than either of the posters I mentioned, for example. The list goes on, of course; berlin report, SuperBobo, timpoblete, whodini, Baron, many others. To a large extent I think this is because the board skews a bit older, and most of us have found a style we like and that we're comfortable with. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, and if people find it boring, well... most of us don't post to entertain, we post because it represents our style, it contextualizes our posts, and because the more people who post their own takes on style and fashion, the more potential inspiration for everyone.

However, I do agree with some of your points, lance. I think that too many people on SF are too quick to dismiss diverging styles; when Chris first started posting, he took some flak, and to my mind he's clearly one of the very best dressers posting pics in WAYWN. There's also a sort of default StyleForum groupthink that gets a little tiresome. And many of us--certainly myself included--could stand to try a little harder to expand our stylistic range. All of that is true, and all of it probably needs to be said once in a while.

As an aside, this is also why Maharlika impresses me. The only thing really consistent so far is that he's constantly changing it up. The man's a stylistic chameleon. Very hard to do well, but he does. And I say that while maintaining that I don't want to emulate it; it doesn't make sense for me to constantly vary my style. It wouldn't really sit right. But it clearly does for him, and it works.

I just want to be clear that I was only trying to make a point by "roasting" some of the more prolific posters here. I know Get Smart has style, a thousand times the sartorial skills I'll ever have. I know you have great style as well and I admittedly copy a lot of things you do.

Jesus Christ you're long winded. What is your problem now? I can't tell if you're talking about superfuture and how they're so hardcore or the fact that no one has style unless they're wearing raw denim + a flathead shirt and converse shoes. Would you mind elaborating?

Wait...scratch that.

I'd like to believe most people are past the thought that people only look good in selvage denim/chucks and flannel shirts. But maybe i'm wrong. Moreso, i didn't understand your little rant about how douchey up there posting some stylistically creative looks that we just couldn't appreciate when they weren't very creative or even solid basic (sometimes boring) looks.. He seemed more brand conscious than the rest of the posters you were trying to semi-mock. I could deal with the taxi driver look but the reason i wrote a long winded thing is because i thought you were basically talking out of your ass in your "defense". Variety? Hardly, seemed like the same basic style. Creativity? Throwing random brands that garner you credibility from most people in the real world in a way that makes you look not only like a douche but one that tries too hard isn't my definition of creativity.

Most of the main posters can appreciate many different styles. I'm just tired of the same defense that some people here and sufu use when they get flak for bad outfits where they blame the fact that they don't just wear the forum approved brands. The chris thing was unfortunate but most the posters in the know appreciated him and just ignored the closed minded people. I see people here and on sufu take plenty of risks and sometimes get lauded for being daring/creative but othertimes get a bit of **** because it just doesn't work but still credit for trying. I think most people don't have the time or money to develop multiple working looks in their wardrobe or have grown and dress to best express themselves like GS and bobo. It'd be great to have 2-3 of workwear, mod, avant garde, gothninja, modern preppy, rock/punk outfits. As with sauce, that's one reason why i really enjoy maharlika's posts.

1. You refer to him as "douchey" yet so far he hasn't displayed any of the personality characteristics of a "douchebag." He's open to criticism, and even asks for suggestions. I don't know a single douchebag who does that. 2. I never said what he is wearing is creative. The only comments I made where that he seems to have a sense of style, and that he appears to not have any prejudice as far as brands go. That was just my initial impression, it may or may not be accurate. 3. All I was saying was that he was bringing some variety to the table, and it was a breath of fresh air. Now, if someone wants to rock some dreaded mall brands, why not let them? Maybe they can pull if off. Maybe they can combine some mall brands with some other interesting stuff. If not, offer up some constructive criticism. It's very easy to push the "styleforum" button, so to speak to engage the conditioning process. Never wear seven, rock n' republic, diesel, or any pre-distressed denim you douchebag! Never wear Kenneth Cole or Ed Hardy or velvet blazers you amjack! Click, whir. It's become a program here. And I've been guilty of it myself in the past. I'm trying to be more open minded about style, since so much of it is subjective.

Similar to the Men's Clothing board I think there are many people that give themselves much more credit than they deserve.

You don't look 34, I would have guessed 32 max.
