My two guesses would be money and time.
Believe it or not emissions reduction goals are driving some of the shift away from practical effects and location shooting.
I just hope it's not as dumb as Prometheus. I was pretty hyped seeing the trailers only to be let down on how dumb the characters were in the movie except for Fassbender.
For all that hate that Alien 3 and Resurrection get, Prometheus is in a class of sh it by itself.

I never bothered to watch the two most recent Alien movies, but 3 and Resurrection were really bad. Resurrection started out OK, but the second half was so incredibly sh!tty, that it entirely negated that first hour.

Apparently 3 was neutered by the studio.
I think Fincher wanted to take his name off?

According to Wikipedia,
Fincher disowned the film. He told The Guardian in 2009, "No one hated it more than me; to this day, no one hates it more than me."

A friend of mine was in the running for a role in 3 as a monk. This was based on the Vincent Ward script…the producers and SW rejected it paid him a **** load of money. Which paid for the writing of What Dreams May Come..which said friend didn’t get a look in for a role

No chat on the Beatlejuice Beatlejuice trailer? It looks excellent to me. How a legacy sequel should feel.

Don't you think for a second that I didn't notice the new Beetlejuice trailer did not have Alec Baldwin, Regina Davis, or Hollywood Bad Boy, Jeff Jones!

I think the only Tim Burton movies I haven't seen are Big Eyes and Dumbo.
I expect it to be right up my alley...

Getting seriously tired of sequels, reimaginings, and reboots in general. No desire to see Beetlejuice, Ghostbusters or anything similar.

I mean, venturing into "you kids get off my lawn" territory here, but good grief. I liked Gareth Edwards' last sci-fi flick as it was an original script I think.

I agree in general. I purposely avoided Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Anchor Man 2, the 2nd Dumb and Dumber, Bill and Ted etc.
I cautiously approached the Coming to America sequel which was ok.
And the Top Gun sequel was completely kickass, and that's coming from someone who thinks Tom Cruise is a freak.
And of course, Blade Runner 2947, probably the best movie ever made.

I get being tired of reboots and “reimagining” of old films but this is a straight-up sequel. Same actors, and director, and going all in on oldschool practical effects. Beatlejuice Beatlejuice feels like the type of memberries we should be celebrating.

The recent Bill and Ted was most excellent. I also loved Maverick and the new Blade Runner.
