Men's long hairstyle

Well, I'm new all this. Despite having had longish (shoulder length) hair for a while I've never "done anything" with it so please bare with me while I'll ask stupid questions. :p

I'm wondering how to style my hair like the guy in the image below. Specifically the bit I've circled in red. Is it just how it's been straightened, is there a special technique to it? Or will I need to use some other product too?

I honestly laughed out loud...then I felt bad. This is slightly low. He was a great writer/philosopher.

Lemon Juice. A tablespoon will do it. Work it into the hair, style, let dry.
Once dry it will hold just like hairspray, and it's natural and harmless to your hair.

Be a man get a mullet, 'business out the front party out the back.' The other option is to tie it back in a pony tail I think there due for a revival.
