I just washed my 501's for the first time and nothing wrong with them at all. I actually really like them, the prewashed run true to size.

Levis are, to this point, the only jeans I own. I have two pair of the Shrink To Fits and both are wearing nicely. One pair is about six months old, has been washed three times and soaked once. The other is only about four months old, has been washed twice and soaked once. 501s fit me well because I"m fairly tall (6'1") and have long legs. Also, a great value. I purchase mine from Langston's Western Wear:

yes, 501's seem to be the top quality for levi's, everything else in the regular levis brand seems to be of lesser quality.

They're Levi's, They'e the most obvious jean purchase imaginable. Millions of people wear them happily. They're fine.

Are they good quality in comparison to J Brand?

theyre fine, what kinda question is that. and for the curious, 501 isn't more related to the brand than it is the style and cut. many brands do the 501 fit, saying all 501s are of quality would be a lie, because levis is a global brand, and global brands produce on different levels of quality.
