Or if you don't mind vintage jackets... Why not buy an original? C series early/mid 60s G1s aren't insanely priced... And it's the real thing!

I have a 1964 Ralph Edwards G-1. Goatskin with a real Mouton collar. It's built like a brick **** house. And I believe Ralph Edwards are the slimmest fitting of the bunch?

Of course, there's many eras and manufacturers to choose from. Also the earlier M422A.

If you want that aged G-1 look, I’d buy the 100 Mission or Avenger Jacket from Cockpit. Both slim fitting, aged jackets like that one, half the price and no patches (I just doubt you’ll like the patches longterm).

Any opinions/reviews on Acne Studios leather jackets? I'm eyeing one.

Thank you.

The ones I've handled were good, but they were priced in a tier they didn't warrant. 30% off MSRP or more would have made them much more in line to what their value is in comparison to other products.

Anyone in the market for a modestly priced Aero 1950s Half belt in size 38?

Black steerhide with donegal wool lining, has seen some wear but no major flaws. Will update details in the BST thread later but feel free to PM me.

I think this is excellent advice (or maybe I simply agree with it :) ). There are no shortage of authentic, vintage G-1's out there, though larger sizes (e.g. 44 & up) are less common. However, you need to stick to about 1968 or so and older to get real goat (instead of embossed cowhide) and real mouton.

That said, I looked at a lot of vintage A-2's and G-1's back in the day, and bought then sold a few, and finally settled on a replica! About 15, 16 years ago I got a new G-1 from Lost Worlds. As the owner bragged, in some ways it is better than the originals. I peeked at the website a few minutes ago:oops:. I don't think it has been updated since then except for the prices. And, my gosh, the prices ... My G-1 is now $1,385, more than double what I paid.

But it is really nice.

Excellent points!

I have an original WWII A2 as well. It just sits in a cloth bag under my bed. I have no idea why I'm nervous to wear that one but I don't think twice about throwing on the G1.

Just came across this monthly photo documentation of the aging of an FCL Richmond trucker. The 3 year pics are stunning but what impresses me is how good they look after just a few months to a year. Note, I leave the house about once a week so aging a leather isn't on my radar...but I enjoy the pics.

It does age well, but also be advised that there is a filter applied to each after-photo, which progressively gets grainier.

Check out the bricks.
