Okay, I'm tearing my hair out. I've had leather jackets from various different places, but they are either 1) expensive and can't be custom fitted, or 2) cheap but tailored precisely. Now, given the choice of the two I would prefer the jacket to fit really well, and that's what I've had from companies like Independence Brothers. A recent jacket I purchased off them fitted like a glove. My only reservation was that the leather is very lightweight (I went for the lamb since I'm not keen on the courser texture of the calf). Ideally I'd like something with the leather quality and build of Soul Revolver (which I also have jackets from) but with the custom sizing of Independence Brothers/The Jacket Maker.
My main problem is with the length of the jacket followed by the sleeves. For a biker or Moto style I need a jacket around 23" long with a 24.5" sleeve length. Problem is that without exception, all off the peg leather jackets I've seen, including Soul Revolver, All Saints etc, are all 25" or more long in a UK size small (which would be my general sizing). 25" takes the jacket well below my pocket line. 23" sits the hem line bang on the top of the pocket line/just at the bottom of a belt.
Why are leather jackets never made like trousers, ie 28" long, 28" regular, 28" short? Surely there must be a whole ton of people out there who need size small but aren't over 6' tall?!
I'm after a biker/double rider style jacket, but without all the belts and gimmicky paraphernalia like ribbed arms and coin pockets, but with some subtle hardware. So, I guess my question is, who makes such a jacket in leather that's not too thin, but not too thick, but that can be made to a custom length? Even some of the places I've seen selling jackets in the $3000 region don't offer customisation! Not that I could go that far in price.
