Is Gucci nothing but hype?

Im thinking about Gucci for business attire. Meaning, suits, dress shirts, and ties. As far as I know, everything is made in Italy. But how is the quality? Gucci is definitely a hot brand now, due to its mainstream exposure. Could the high prices be a result of that? Or a result of high quality and great clothes?

Gucci has decent quality but not worth their retail prices IMO. The prices are greatly inflated due to brand exposure and hype.

if you are talking about suits, they have some good suits. i say wait till end of year when most of their current catalog goes to 40% off. not classics or hot-selling items though.

I'd take Ferragamos over Gucci.

But yeah, for the price you can get much better clothing. You're paying for the brand.

zegna makes their fabrics, so they cant be 2 bad; u could just pick up zegnas for a similar price, though- which have way better construction

as far as cut goes, gucci or better value brands is personal opinion

Are you guys exaggerating about craftsmanship?

It's not that a designer suit will break into pieces after you wear it plus you get a more modern and flattering fit (if you are thin).

I once bought some Gucci shoes and when I got home and opened the box: it was empty.

Nothing is ever worth the price. Gucci quality is above average but not top tier. Its prices pretty much reflect that as well. If you like Gucci and it fits your style & budget then go ahead and wear it.
