I'm Matt and I started getting into thinking more about clothes and outfits during lockdown, which is pretty ironic because nobody saw me. My style has gone from pretty minimalist basic bastard to a more Americana vibe, but a recent return to a corporate office job after freelancing has seen me take more of an interest in tailoring and classic menswear.

I'm in my early 30s and live in Ireland with my wife and cats.
Hi Matt, consider yourself now seen. Welcome to the forum!

Hi I’m Clemens.
Im living in South Korea and planning to move to US early next year.

I was big fan of Ralph Lauren and these days i’m very interested in Drake’s.

I love their theme, which is “relaxed elegance”

I’d like to get more information about Drake’s in thus Forum.

Hello all, my name's David and I currently live in middle America with a permanent move to NYC planned for late next year. I've had an interest in classic menswear for quite a few years now and gravitate more towards the classic American and Ivy styles over anything like Italian styles especially because I just do not have the body for the Italian styles. As my username and logo picture suggest I am quite a big (muscular) guy so finding this style of clothes without going custom/bespoke can be challenging but with buying oversized and having a great tailor I make it work as best I can. I shop from brands like Ralph Lauren, J Press, Luxire, Spier & Mackay (sparingly as their cuts often don't work for me), and I've had some luck with Pini Parma. I am also a major vintage and thrift shopper as well as an avid eBayer. I have an Instagram with the same username as here if you want to follow and I look forward to joining in on discussions and adding my experience as a bigger guy to the forum.

Thanks all and glad to be here!

Hi all,
My name is Arjen, from the Netherlands, and I am new here as a member. Since a couple years ('thnx' to Covid and consequently lots of spare time) I have developed an interest in menswear. In particularly, I am fond of smaller and/or independent Italian, French and other European brands of quality clothing. So, I have used Styleforum in the past few years a lot as a 'reference guide', when I hit at an (for me) unknown brand name. I am impressed by the level of knowledge and experience assembled here. So, I hope to keep learning a lot. Thanks!

Hi Arjen, learning from each other’s experiences is what we do here. Welcome!

my name is Kevin. i'm 59. retired fire captain. I just joined to get help for my college freshman son who lives in his own world and fasion does not exist in that world. I want to help him be accepted among his people. I could also use some fashion help but the phrase "putting lipstick on a pig" comes to mind.

Hello, I'm Joe, 47. I live in London, UK and work in the "creative industries" (for lack of a better term), which means that I tend to dress very casually even for work. I'm starting to find myself needing to add a bit more "grown up" to my wardrobe, but I'm am fairly clueless and will need to learn a few things...

State government lawyer, southeastern U.S. Updating my wardrobe.

Lots of in-person professional interaction - good appearance never hurt anyone.

I need more dress shoes in the rotation. I have a treasured pair of Alden Full Straps in Color 8 shell purchased new in 2017, and a pair of black AE Park Avenues from 2013 - my first dress shoe, very sentimentally attached. The Park Ave's are well built, with good uppers. The only thing holding them back is the 360 degree welt. Cost to convert to 270 degree (for a more svelte heel) is roughly the same as a new pair of Aldens in calf. The Park Ave's aren't bulbous, but my next black cap-toe oxfords will be more of an almond-shaped last.

The Full Straps are without a doubt the most elegant piece of footwear I own, a perfect blend of style and grace while remaining appropriately conservative. I'm contentedly anticipating a lifetime of service. They have aged unevenly - the left shoe getting considerably darker than the right shoe. Very interested in getting them re-dyed to a closer match.

Suits are important, but I'm really only interested in fit - the style must be conservative for what I do, therefore the elegance has to come from the fit.

Wool OTC Gold Toe socks are tough to beat.

Hello G Rex, I’m not clear on what your issue with 360 degree welted shoes are? Have you considered brands other than Alden? Welcome to the forum!
