Nobody around here carries RLPL...I am looking to get a suit and am thinking about ordering one online. I've never had the pleasure of trying one on in person. Are they true to size? If I'm a 42L, is that the size I should be looking for? Some of those English suits are cut a tad smaller than I'm used to. What would you recommend?

Thank you!

Really depends on if you are really talking about the ones made in England (long time ago??) or thier current line? The current line is Made in Italy by St Andrews and fits slim. I would say it measure 1/2 size smaller then taggd.

Take a look at this recently ended auction of mine for the measurements of a recent St Andrews RLPL 42L for comparison to one of your own well-fitting suits.

I personally characterise RLPL's cut as nicely trim but not excessively slim and would suggest that unless the measurements are way off, you will probably do fine in your own usual size.

Black Label you may well need to go up a size. Polo is variable depending on the cut - Jerome IV seems close to RLPL from what I've heard/seen; Polo II is half to a full size bigger than RLPL for me.

I find the Purple Label fit to be somewhat slimmer than most, but very attractive clothing nonetheless. For example, I am an off-the-rack 42 Reg and wear that size in Blue Label clothing; however, in Purple Label I must go up a size to a 44 and have it tailored.

+1. I usually wear a 40L jacket, but RLPL 42L fits my shoulders best. I get chest/waist tailored.
