How do I make myself look taller and slimmer?

High heels is the #1 thing to do but if you are not comfortable with that you could make sure your jacket sleeves aren't too long and have a minimum amount of break on your trouser. No excess cloth around the jacket waist. Have your jacket fitted as close as possible without pulling which emphasize extra weight. Wear a darker tie than your suit over a white or very light colored shirt. The eye is drawn to the highest point of contrast and the long line of a dark tie on a white shirt draws and centers the eye creating a stronger vertical line and will diminish the horizontal. Keep your jacket buttoned while standing.

Not sure if I agree with the negative effect of a DB and cuffs , although they are "traditionally" height reducers.

Like I mentioned above, height is not an issue, it seems to be weight (a problem you dont have based on the pic) and the more square his jacket will be the more square he will look.

That is marvelous, Mike.

To the OP: Don't wear oversized clothing. If it's not a formal congress, then wear a tightly (but not too tight) fitting dark blue or black shirt and slim pants. It will make you look more in shape. But the fit of the shirt has to be spot on!

Hey MBreinin, very nice indeed

. Can't say why or what makes it so good, but that's a great look you have going there. However, for the rest of us mortals: I find that sucking in the extending bit can help (seriously). Not something I'd want to do for too long though, but I do look almost passable with a concentrated inhalation. Please don't knock it... it's been shown that most men instinctively suck in their wobbly bits when an attractive woman enters the room. If I sound a little boastful, then please forgive me. I'm feeling super confident - after the disaster last year, involving a shrink-wrapped shirt concealed in the restaurant toilet. No woman is worth all that effort. 2011... ladies, here I come! Lear (the ugly one)

Good luck Kris. I'm new to these parts, but sounds like you got some good advice. Any vertical stripe is going to help..

But as a couple of people mentioned - whatever you wear - wear it like you own the place! If you rock it with confidence, that's more than half the battle.

Actually if the jacket rolls to the bottom button I think it will help elongate you and make you look leaner as well. Then again, I am on a db kick lately. Pinstripes instead of patterns as people have stated is one of the best ways to do it. Well fitting garments as well, but nothing cut too slim or tight. I think people often confuse well fitting and too snug fitting. Edit: And yes Mbreinin's suit looks kick ass, RLPL? I am currently job hunting and the suit I am using for interviews is a navy flannel db. I just wish it rolled to the bottom button like that.
