I don't really know enough about beers, but depending on what you are eating, you might want to go accordingly. Otherwise, Sierra Nevada IPA or Hoegardeen might not be a bad choice.

Get something different that isn't readily available. Great Lakes Brewery? Are you in Cleveland? I recall having a few a couple years back, and they were pretty damned good.

Personally... I'd go for a pale ale (Rogue Morimoto Soba?), or possibly the Achel Blond... Seems like they'd pair well with BBQ dinner, and still be fairly unusual to have available. Although.... Rogue is getting quite popular these days. That Chipotle Ale also looked somewhat interesting, but I feel like the spices might actually be too much... I'd prefer something to cleanse the pallet, not add to the spiciness.

Yea, to begin its going to depend on what you eat... so get some input from you server, with a list like that I am sure the staff is going to know their beers.

I've tried of few of those, but thats not really important cause its a huge list and you want to get something you've never had, that you can't get too many other places.

This sounds good: THOMAS HARDY'S ALE Devon, England. 11.7% 8.5oz.
A bottle conditioned barley wine that improves with age up to 26 years... plus barley wines are usually a sure hit, for me at least.

Also good beers (not that most of the others aren't):
DELERIUM TREMENS. $7.00 Melle, Belgium. 9.0% 11.2oz.
Strong and bold with dancing pink elephants as your drinking buddies.
DELERIUM NOCTURNUM. $7.00 Melle, Belgium. 9.0% 11.2oz.
Roasted malt aromas lead to a caramel palate with crisp carbonation.

Go with George Stagg for Bourbon.

Have fun.

this looks interesting. if you will be eating ribs in bbq sauce you don't want a heavy beer or anything sweet. ask for something light and dry.

If you're eating spicy barbecue, I much prefer a serious IPA to go with that kind of food. Unfortunately, I don't see any IPAs on there that I've had and can recommend, so...Erdinger is a good wheat, Rogue's Dead Guy is solid, and Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout is excellent IMO.

I've had this one. It tastes like a campfire smells.

Schlenkerla. It does taste like smoke or smoked pork. Might be a bit too on the nose for BBQ.

For the beers I would ask which of those are new arrivals because I would bet many of those bottles have been there for a while. I would doubt they sell a lot of the Schneider Aventinus, which is an excellent doppel-weiss beer that the ladies seem to love (it has a slight chocolate taste).

I think the Rip Van Winkle 12 year old is what the Berghoff in Chicago offered. Quite nice for the price.
