Help! Best polish to use on raw scuffing?

Ok, so I own a pair of dearly loved made in England Doc Martens 1460's. They are a smooth black leather but the color was applied onto, rather than dyed into the leather. So now that they have received enough of a beating, the raw leather underneath is starting to show.

So my question is this, what is the ideal polish to use to cover up and/or possibly restore the color to the leather? I've heard Lincoln Wax is good for this, can anybody second this? Thanks!

If the color is fading, you need a cream which will give substancially more color than a wax. Lincoln has a good cream, Saphir is good too and I think it gives even more color. Unfortunately, Saphir can be hard to find unless you live near Franco's or Leffot (unless you don't mind waiting for shipment) while Lincoln can be found pretty much everywhere.

Yea I actually use Saphir for my dress shoes, I only have the neutral though. I was considering ordering the black but was hoping to find something more readily accessible, doesnt have to be high end either.

I love 'em but c'mon, these are Docs not John Lobb's

Meltonian shoe cream. Good product, under $3.00 a jar.

Just picked up a jar on Ebay for $5 shipped.

I've heard good things about Meltonian, just never knew it would take care of this problem.

I'd wager most of the decent shoe repair outlets in Boston will have it handy for less.

They probably would, but as a convenience factor I just Ebay'd it haha.

Plus it's pretty nasty outside today, dont feel like running errands.

You could go hardcore

and get leather dye like Fiebings/Kelly also

That wont be necessary

The Meltonian worked wonders, even though it's the first application I've ever done on these boots it has covered up the scuffing beautifully!
