Hey guys

I got a few Half-canvassed Suitsupply suits. I am thinking to buy a full-canvassed suit for my next purchase.

I know I have to try it on to kind of "feel" the difference, but what would experienced users say? What would the difference be? Will I feel it? Will it drape better? Why?

While full canvas construction is usually touted as a sine qua non for a high-quality tailored jacket, I think the benefits of full canvassing are difficult to separate from the fact that a fully canvassed jacket will likely be made of better materials and is likely to be better constructed in other ways than a half-canvassed jacket. So yes, you will likely find that a fully canvassed suit fits/feels better than your half-canvassed suits, but for reasons that go beyond just the fact that it has a full canvas.

Lots of variables (e.g., fabric weight, suit cut) but I do find my full canvas suits to hang better and be more "fluid" especially when I'm walking.

Of course all this could be cognitive dissonance.

I find that - in the case of light weight fabric - fully canvassed suits stay looking good for longer. You can otherwise kind of see that the fabric is glued together at some stage. This doesn't seem to be the case for heavier fabric, maybe because the interlining is of lighter weight in that case combined with a heavier cloth.

I would agree that full canvas leads to a far superior suit.

While half canvassing is a good option for half lined sportcoats, the bottom part (below the buttoning point) of the jacket will never be shaped like on a full canvas one. Therefore the fronts tend to "open up", stand away from the body, when the jacket is unbuttoned. A full canvas jacket, in the right fit will hug your body even when it's not fastened.
