Shooting my daily cary piece. 12oz and .357 magnum ensures that I don't shoot a lot of rounds through it at any one time, so try to shoot it very regularly. It does have a Crimson Trace laser sight, but I wasn't using it on this particular bright day.

+1. My Walmarts don't even sell ammo

Can anyone recommend good range supplies? Muffs, goggles, targets, etc. that won't break the bank would be great.

CheaperThanDirt.com has some decent **** for cheap Rambo. I've bought a bit from them before. Ammo prices is pissing me off. Would like to add more 9mm and 8mm mauser ammo but the prices and availability suck. 3 years ago I got bulk 8mm ammo for 7 cents a round. Now, it's nowhere near that.

Does anywhere actually have cheap(ish) bulk 9mm in stock? I've had some on backorder for a long time now and the date keeps getting pushed forward, and I have a few people that want to go shoot over the holidays. Going to call Walmart tomorrow and check there based on the post a bit above. I did hear that primer production was what was holding up most of the ammo and it's due to catch up soon, so aside from surplus, there should be more cheap stuff to be had again soon. Unfortunately the days of cheap .223 and .308 are most likely gone forever.

What should I be paying for entry level ****? I can get them at Walmart but if they're crap I won't bother. 2 of the local ranges want $20+ for 50 rounds of 9mm.

Howard Leight makes 30db muffs that sell for 20-30 bucks. They're useless for rifles and shotguns, though. Any brand will work, just check the noise reduction rating, the higher the better. Indoors, I double up - cheap foam plugs plus muffs. I like my hearing.

Bulk 9 can be found online for $12-13/50 plus shipping. Maybe less if you go factory reloads ala georgiaammo.com and usaammo.com. I'm just buying locally, I can find better deals from WM/Academy/Cabelas.

Winchester White Box 9mm is great target ammo. Been using it for years -- at one time it was cheaper for me to buy WWB than reload 9mm on my Dillon!

Walmart sells it but as pointed out the prices have fluctuated wildly over the last two years. Prior to the 2008 elections you could get a box of WWB 9mm (100 rounds) for $9.97 at Walmart but nowadays (1) you are lucky if your local WM has any in stock; and (2) the price isn't more than $19.97. Still, $20/100 isn't a bad price for quality, reloadable ammunition so if I saw some on the shelf I would buy it.

Edit: another cheap (but good) ammo option is 9mm Blazer. They make it in two flavors: Blazer Brass (which is reloadable) and regular Blazer (aluminum cases). When I'd go to pistol classes I'd buy Blazer because (1) I was not going to lose 2,000 rounds of brass-cased ammo (my reloads or store bought); and (2) it was cheap. I used to buy Blazer from Natchez Shooter's Supply but I haven't bought any for quite some time as I have not attended a pistol class in several years.

j, I don't know of any mail order outfit that currently has any decent deals on 9mm. I checked my usual retailer (AIM Surplus) and they are out. I have not been shooting much 9mm lately due to ammo costs. Personally I buy 9mm in-store because the shipping costs usually kill any price advantage.

Wal mart has .357 Sig, .22 short and .25 auto. That is all for handguns. They have no 22LR, 9mm, etc at all. They did have some expensive .223. Sigh.

Is your WM rural/suburban/urban? The two nearest my house (dead center of DFW) are down to .22lr and that's about it. But work takes me near Wal-Marts further in the 'burbs and sometimes straight up country - that's where I can find ammo. (Also, ironically, a Wal-Mart in one of the crappier parts of west Dallas.)

Found a dry box this afternoon with 500 rounds of .45 and 500 of 9mm (Blazer Brass and Winchester) that I'd forgotten about. Won a gift certificate to Wal-Mart three years ago and blew it all on ammo. This is better than finding cash in an old coat.

I don't shoot 9x19, so don't follow it closely, but I thought I saw a tonne of it in Academy yesterday. Mostly Blazer and Serb, I think. Will pay more attention & report back next time I'm there.

Yeah, Academy's had a steady supply of Monarch steel (Barnaul) and brass (Prvi) at $10 and $12, if there's one nearby.

Had to treck out to redneck country to find a Hellmart that sold ammo. All out of anything that resembled a bullet. ****.

They only had some Winchester ear muffs and goggles and ****** little targets. Where can I get these things?
