According to an AP-AOL Games poll, 40% of American adults play games on a computer or a console, and 45% play over the internet. More than a third of online gamers spent more than $200 last year on gaming.
(AP, 9 March 2006)

Are these stats reflected in this forums contributors?

I'd say yes, but you have to realize that the numbers are skewed heavily towards the 18-30 year olds, and not so much the 30-50 year olds and older. SW&D is probably higher than average, Men's clothing is probably lower. Also, you must clarify what "playing over the internet" consists of. Are you talking WoW and subscription type services, or are you including "time wasting flash games"?

This is ignorance. There's more artistry in certain games than any garment.

You've just thrown down a mighty gauntlet and I'm debating throwing my chips in with you... What the hell, I think I agree.

Regardless of how it compares to clothing, I will say that Deus Ex was an utterly singular and profound experience.

Are you guys really going to throw down with the "videogames are for kids" crowd? Seems like pearls before the old codgerly swine to me.

The striving is its own reward.

As well as being a friggin tough game (more so due to stealth somewhat being put to the side, unlike Thief). Going back and playing it nowadays its crazy as to how much of the story/little snippets of newspaper and books pertain to things that have happened in the few years since the game was released.
