This is a pic-heavy post.

On eBay, I recently won this:

I received it today. I have NEVER owned anything with this much handiwork. It's stunning really.

There is no mistaking this for anything but a 1940s era suit. The trouser sits three inches above the navel, the shoulders are PADDED almost to the point of costume. But there's an elegance about it that I refuse to alter. Not the mention the travesty of majorly altering a garment that's 70 years old.

The only fault is that the rear brace buttons are missing. But I am sure to replace those soon.

Decided to snap some photos - it's about time I get to use those 40s rayon ties I thrifted a few months back.

Yes, that's Feb. 15, 1941.

Bonus - came with a silk handkerchief of about the same vintage, pre-tucked in the breast pocket.

Wow, that is really something. Is it in as fine condition as it appears from the photos?

The horn rimmed glasses really complete the ensamble for you!

It looks essentially brand new, with the exception of two small holes on the waistband where the brace buttons were ripped out.

Fantastic, thanks for sharing. They still make most of their jackets quarter lined, heritage at it finest...

Awesome Luftvier! It's also equally awesome that you found that suit in that condition.

If it fits, I wouldnt touch it, no matter what. It is what it is, and converting it to something different would be like chopping up an antique.

As far as the high pants go, you wont see them since the jacket would be buttoned.

Superb suit. A great heirloom.
