where'd ya get the levi's?

Found them at Nordstorm Rack. Was just passing by, saw the size, tried it, bought it. Was a steal for $25
Nordstorm Rack is having a clearance sale for the Labor Day weekend I suppose.

soak them first. odds are they will shrink 1-2 inches in length. i'm 5'6" and i wear jeans with a 36" inseam. i just feel like skinny jeans look better with more stacks.

you can always hem them further down the road, but just make sure they have been soaked first. Dtmt is being a douche, if you get your jeans hemmed without soaking them, you will end up finding a length you like, only to have them shrink becoming high-waters.

its all personal preference.

Alright. I'll soak them first before going to the tailors. Let's see how it goes!

Soak em a couple times at least before you even consider hemming them. They really do shrink quite a bit in length and NO the inseam will not stretch back out. Nothing wrong with stacks anyways, I bet after a soak you'll wish they were a bit longer.

You guys are just silly telling this dude to soak the Unbranded brand denim a couple times before hemming. I don't even see a point in soaking it once. If you are concerned about shrinking maybe .5" just leave it in the hem. It is pretty normal to wear sanforized denim without a soak. No need.

Unsanforized is a different story, but I'd just leave an extra .5" or so and not bother soaking them.

I thought about it and thought that soaking sanforized jeans will make little to no difference. But I did it once anyways.
It's 34" now and I think that 31" will be good. So I need to lose 3". I'll see how they turn out after they dry. If not, I'll take it to the tailor.

I'll take photos uncuffed after dry, please let me know how they look after.

Here are the jeans after hot soak for 20mins. No real difference.
Let's get a vote!

Hem 3" off or no hem?

it's just personal preference, maybe you'll be more into the stack later if your taste changes. my preference would be to hem those you have.

a lot of stacking going on there, but like i said before, if you decide to hem them, make sure to extra at least 2 extra inches.

There you all go. Soaking sanforized denim did almost nothing, as expected. I'd hem those as per suggestions on here. Leave 2" extra from your ideal length so you can stack or cuff. No reason to over-think this.

If you are in SF, LA, Seattle or NYC go get a chain stitch hem. I'm sure there are other metropolitan areas with great spots to do so but off the top of my head those are the cities I know of with good places (Self Edge, BiG, BlueOwl, several in Los Angeles).

I'm about an hour from SF but don't want to drive down there. I have a list of stores I Yelped for hemming jeans. Gonna call up each one and ask if they can do a chainstitch hem. If not, a normal hem will have to do. At least they're < $100, and they're my first pair. So we'll see how they turn out.

Chainstitching is more expensive, usually like $25.

Will keep that in mind.
Is it really worth the extra $10-15?

What's the big difference? Didn't bubba04 say:

The only purpose to keeping the original hem is to preserve any of the original fading or distressing that it may have had when you bought the jeans. Since we're talking about hemming a pair of unworn raws that don't have any fading/distressing, there's no point in asking your tailor to keep the original hem.

Put shoes on.
Roll jeans up until you are happy with how they fit.
Hem to that length.

Shoes vary in height tho. I'll just stick with taking 3" off.
