So, some of you (the ones who've been following the waywrn thread and my posts generally) know that I love fedoras. I've been wearing primarily Borsalinos, but have recently gotten some other hats. A few months ago, I got a Stetson (for BB), but I'm still not too crazy about it. it's a bit too heavy and stiff in shape, feel and look. But it was worth the price (80 dollars). Then, last week, I got a Brooks Brothers fedora. It isn't made by Stetson (it's made in Italy), but it doesn't look like a Borsalino, either. Its construction is a lot more like a Borsalino, in that it's less structured, lighter, softer, and, if you ask me nicer. Finally, yesterday I got a whole stock (upward of ten, I think) Makins hats. They look and feel amazing—far better than any of the the others, even if more casual. But I never even heard of the brand before. I just found it, loved it, tried a few hats on, and proceeded to check out. (If you do like them, I can pick up a few at half price.) All of the hats are rabbit fur (I can't afford beaver hats). I want to know your opinions on these different hat brands and how they appear. More important, I want to hear your thoughts about Makins (I know enough about Stetson and Borsalino at this point). What do you know about the quality? What would you pay for them (they retail for about the same as comparable (rabbit fur) Borsalinos)? Etc... Please, comment with your thoughts. I'll post pics of the hats later, please God.
