Expensive ties- how can people tell?

I can post a picture of several Hermes ties and no-one (except Spoo and some very few other, I guess), can tell they're Hermes ties.

Louis Vuitton has a subtle but recognizable check pattern (get the one with the little diamonds...many colors available). These ties will run about $200. I don't think a $150 tie will look much better than a $50 one except at close inspection. You're going to need to splurge a little to achieve your objective.
My wool and knit ties get noticed a lot more than anything else. No one knows what they are, but they are always curious. Most Hermes ties are a little too... frivolous and exciting for me.
