Why do some pants use different size labels?

For example on shoplostfound.com one Norwegian pant for Ss19 is labelled as 30/32/34 and another colour is labelled S/M/L. Does it have to do with fabrics used?

Also the mismatched v5 is bonkers. I can't wait to wear that.

I think it mainly depends on the season and model. FWIW, in my experience S=32, M=34, L=36, etc.

And: WHY ON EARTH is FWK not that more popular?! Always absolutely blown away by the Lookbooks!

My opinion is that brands like Engineered Garments and Visvim et all use utilitarian fabrics which aren't necessarily soft or elegant. Wools are itchy and coarse, cottons are heavy and have a dry hand, denim is rigid and heavy, etc. I honestly feel like women like touch and drape of fabric, if its not soft they usually want nothing to do with it. Couple that with a more traditionally masculine aesthetic and its a really small target audience.

@grayfox Its normally a seasonal thing. If one style of pant say Norwegian is alpha then all the Norwegians regardless of fabric will be sized that way.
A lot of SS pants are in Alpha size, whilst FW tend to be 28,30 ect
For FW19 all pants are alpha sized.

Fw19 are alpha sized but fw18 was numerical? I'm just confused as to what the reasoning is I guess

It's safe to say xs/30 s/32 m/34 then?

You would have to ask Nepenthes.
They change from season to season. I guess Alpha fits a broader scope of people than the numerical system.
This is the sizing advice for FW19

XS = 26/28
S = 30/32
M = 34/36
L = 38/40
XL = 42/44

From my observation, pants from eg that are numbered are intended to be a more precise fit. Items that are labeled SML are often intended to be fastened with a string or some other device. This isn't always the case though.

Picked up the bomber in black on sale after seeing it in the fw19 look book (which looks to be the same makeup other than the button tabs). Didn't think I'd like it as much as I do because everyone and their mother owns a bomber jacket these days. The size M fits well, I think it'll be a good transition piece between seasons.
