Just got the pants back from the tailor..

Are these pants too short? It fits weird that its hanging behind my heel.

Also, AE Fifth Ave with chinos, are the shoes too dressy for chinos?

Personally not a fan of black dress shoes with khakis, but its hard to tell if they are too dressy with just seeing your pants/shoes combo. I think the length is fine, though.

length is ok, I suppose it's a bit more relaxed. Personally when the opening's too wide, I won't make them no break since they slosh around. You might consider giving them a light iron to make a crease down the middle and also storing them folded along the sides to make them feel narrower along the sides. that, or tailor them (pretty simple) so they're a little slimmer closer to the bottom.

as for the styling, well the pants are busienss casual, I think Balmorals are a bit dressy, so those pants would probably look better with some loafers, boat shoes, or even blutchers. You'll still be better dressed then 95% of people anyway.

as for the color, IMO it's like wearing tan shoes with a navy suit, too much contrast. Browns, blues, even cordovans as a color for footwear would probably work better

Length looks fine to me. I actually prefer my chinos to hang a little over the heel, but maybe I'm just use to golf slacks hanging behind the heel of the golf shoe. As far as the shoe/chinos, I prefer brown shoes with chinos, but the black doesnt look out of place.

Hey Factor XII, you wanted to purchase a white linen pocket square from me and I sent you an invoice but I never heard back. PM me if you're still interested.

I think the length looks good and, from what can be seen in the last photo, the overall fit looks pretty good too.

Although I like the look of a dressy shoe with chinos, I have to say that the lighter (stone-colored?) chinos and black shoes don't really work for me. Just seems a bit severe. I am imagining a black belt as well, which would just further accentuate the heaviness of the combo.

That said, I think the pairing of black shoes and chinos is definitely a matter of taste; if it works for you, you can do it.

Out of curiosity, what brand are the chinos?
