I picked up from Raphael today, too.

Puts my EG delivery today to shame.

Awesome man.

Those both really do look like a step above anything else you've ever posted. Do they seem like that to you? Or is it just the fit that is superior?

Cleverly comes to Atlanta...someday I might try them out.

I love the Cleverly Russian Reindeer shoes. They look like they are not new in a good way. It's been a long wait. First for the ship to sink. And second for you to get the Cleverley commissions before Christmas. It's been quite a long time, but I seem to recall you having a little alligator wallet card case that would go well with the Reindeer Cleverlys.

You know how I love stuff with a story behind it and the Russian Reindeer hides have quite a story.

To those that don't know the story, use the search function.

They're not done. They should be boned and polished for a few years before even being worn.

Wearing them right away would be like gobbling young Burgundy.

And there will be no more Russian reindeer as the diver who savages or savaged the hide is about to retire or retired already.

I hope the Shoe Fairy paid most of the bill upon delivery because of the recent strength of $ against £.

These look really great. I'm thinking about getting a pair in black to mate with flannel suits.

I have spoken recently to a 'closer' who has worked over the years on many pairs of 'Reindeer Hide' shoes and he feels it is important to keep them well greased, all the time. Use 'Dubbin' or similar leather fat. I know, this is not normally recommended for dress shoes, but this leather seems to need it, otherwise it dries out and the leather cracks. A few months back, I've seen a pair at New & Lingwood which someone had returned for repair, the upper leather was all cracked.

Nice shoes, BTW.

Much worse to drink Bordeaux too young than Burg.

I have to say, those are the best looking Cleverley's I have seen in a while. They look very "neat."

Thanks W!!

I couldn't be happier. The finishing is great and the fit is the best I've gotten to date.

Thanks for the advice Bengal, I'll be sure to keep them well greased as you suggest.

The reindeer leather was originally tanned for bookbinding rather than shoes I was told and does need extra care.
