Afternoon Gents,

I've just purchased a new Hickey Freeman OTR suit at filenes this week. The price was $400, which was quite good IMO because its brand new and there is no visible wear and tear. Haven't a chance to take a picture with it on me as of yet; Zegna has a suit looking much like the one I purchased on its website:

What do the experts recommend wearing with this suit? Shirt (colors), as well as shoes (color and type) would be a great help. Does this suit require the wearing of a tie? What is the audiences take on the suit itself? I'm thinking of a casual business setting.

Thanks all!

thats a nice fabric ... hopefully it fits very well.

i'd think it would go great with tan or dark brown leather soled shoes.

in terms of shirts and ties, the easiest would be a white shirt with a brown based tie. more adventurous options would be a pale yellow shirt, a pink shirt or a light blue shirt.

a blue tie to pull out the blue windowpane would also be a good look. check out sites like TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwhitt, From the Waist Up etc for more ideas. Also AAAC has a good article on color coordination ... its worth a read. You can google "color coordination AAAC"

good luck.

I like the suit, agree that it's good for a casual business setting. I think you could wear it without a tie, I like doing so from time to time if the situation is right.

Agree with niidawg on the shirts, ties & shoes.
