this doesn't count, the guy is a limo driver who realizes what loser he really is - his sexual prowess is impressive but to put into the category of "best alpha male"......not so much

however good movie

I was just about to mention "Alfie". The Jude Law version pales in comparison with the original. I vote for "The Bad And The Beautiful" with Kirk Douglas (1952).

I find it unfortunate that in general you have to go back to classic movies to find quality examples of Alpha Males who are confident and don't find it necessary to use excessive firepower or violence to prove their manhood.

That being said, one recent film that actually fits this criteria is Appaloosa

Looking at classic films, I would suggest The Great Escape, To Catch A Thief and Twelve O'Clock High.
