Areas to avoid in Boston (help me avoid getting robbed this evening!)

My wife said I wasn't spontaneous enough when we travel, so to prove her wrong I suggested we go on an unplanned trip to Boston.

Last night we stayed in Rochester. The Gps doesn't have an "avoid ghettos" feature, and we wound up in an area where lots of the windows were boarded up and people were yelling things at our car. There were also people fighting in the street. It was an adventure.

What area should we go to in Boston to avoid this type of adventure? We would like to walk around a bit. I would like to try some of this clam chowder I hear so much about.

No way I'm doing that! I've seen pics of how that guy dresses. I want my wife to come back to Canada with me, not stay in Boston.

Boston Common and Quincy Market are where you will see most tourists walking around. Union Oyster House for chowder.

Yes, please stay in those areas. I don't want you crowding up any areas worth going to.

The first time I went to Boston I called home on my cell and was telling my family how much I loved the city and wanted to live there. A moment after hanging up, I was propositioned by a prostitute. I was just across the street from the Four Seasons, I believe.

I can see why you wanted to live there.
