So good, just wish the 15 was readily available but this will certainly do.

Got a 15 sitting in the basement, at some point I’m going to get the rest of the collection whittled down far enough that I can crack it.

what about the 12
The cask strength 12 vs the 10? They are very close. But the CS is around $50 more. I would certainly choose either the 10 or 12 over the 15 with current prices. The 15 doesnt do anything special like the CS 12 or even the 10.

There are some drinks that just seem to be great and complex. I’ve made it known in the past that I’ve looked for good US single malts and have mostly struck out. I believe I’ve mentioned Balcones as having some good stuff. Well, this is it. Aged in Madeira casks this stuff has the look, the nose and the palate of greatness. This reminds me of the first time I tried A’bunadh (well close). Color: deep amber almost mahogany. Nose: whew, even with water I get a lot of hotness from the alcohol. Fortified wine, malt, bread, and brown sugar. Palate: drying - almost tanninny. Again with grapes, stone fruits, burnt caramel. Really nice and lingering. Oak - its so pronounced that I almost miss that its the primary driver here.

Having a Laph 10. It seems…flimsy? Almost across the board,l, from nose all the way to finish.
Has quality taken a notable dip of late?
