Any Enthusiasm For A New York City SF CM Meet Up?

I can’t believe it’s been NINE years since I was lucky enough to be in NYC when a few SF regulars were meeting up. I had a great night and hung out with a few fellas but unfortunately from the group only Crusty remains a regular SF poster these days. Among the others in attendance were @Tirailleur1 who was just launching his Post-Imperial accessories, @Matt Deckard the erstwhile Stetson hat maven, Rory the Irish tailor fresh from his Golden Shears Award, and Charley the menswear retail guru who was in town from Michigan.

Anyway the novelty of meeting like-minded internet posters - Tinder excepted 😁 - may have worn off since those halcyon days of 2014 but I would love to catch up with a few cyber-pals in case anyone is interested. I’ll be in New York for one night only on Tuesday 2nd May and will be happy to defer the choice of location to any of the locals who might know a good spot in mid-town.

Calling …
@upr_crust
@An Acute Style
@Eli Curt
@ter1413
@gdl203
@Matt Spaiser (tag link didn’t work but if you’re looking in Matt, or if anyone knows him please pass on the invite!)
@SpooPoker

Anyone else from New York or visiting at that time will be welcome. Please reply on this thread if you’ll make it and feel free to throw in suggestions for a venue. I’ll be schlepping around the shops in mid town from early afternoon throughout the evening. Cheers - Rod.

Since relocating to Jersey over half a year ago, I've been to New York exactly once.

But, I'll be in town the night of May 4th, narrowly missing you :(

Well, if it's any incentive, I am around, and should be able to make it to a meet-up of the locals. I would assume that a meeting for drinks would be better than one for dinner (less commitment). The first watering hole that popped into my head is the Gold Room at the Lotte Palace Hotel - a suitably grand background for sartorial peacocks such as the denizens of these pages, a location I last visited when Bernoulli was in town last May - photos of that evening attached.

might be interested! what's the location in mind

No location has been definitively chosen yet - my suggestion was exactly that - only a suggestion, though a midtown location would be most practical for all concerned, I believe . . .

Like I said Crusty I'm happy to defer location choice to the locals but I just looked up the hotel bar you suggested and that would work fine for me at Madison and 50th near St Paddy’s.

The more the merrier so keep ‘em coming fellas! As for it being a school night @An Acute Style - come on man, can you ask your good lady for a hall pass? 😁

As a regular at the San Francisco meet-ups which haven't been held
since 9/16, I be very curious to attend one in my home town. Unfortunately,
I arrive at NYC 5/4 late after having visited friends and family in Boston and CT.
I'm only packing an age-old but superbly cut ( for me) Belvest jacket which I will only
probably wear as a reference for try-ons at a few shops. Have a terrific time! It is
a tradition well worth reviving.

Shall I make an executive decision, and state that we shall meet at the Gold Room bar of the Lotte Palace Hotel starting at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 2nd? If anyone has a better suggestion, state it quickly, but if not, we can go with my suggestion.

Good work Crusty for taking the lead on this one!😁

This is fine with me and I intend to be there with bells on. Hope everyone else is OK with the time and venue and we’ll look forward to seeing you all there.

As for those for whom the timing didn’t work out this time - well I will try to finagle my own return to NYC a couple of months later and will be happy to announce a re-run if I’m able to do so, but if May’s meet up is successful then with a bit of luck this could turn out to be a semi-regular thing anyway regardless of whether or not I’m in town.

I always say the only limit to getting things done is your imagination and your determination!
