it just has that look of... no i didnt play sports or date good lookin women in high school.. but i did try to be alternative and listen to punk rock thing going on in my opinion...

Absolute rubbish i'm afraid. Chucks / Baracuta G9 / Levis = timeless and classic

purcells have this 'cute' factor to me - very wholesome, leave it to beaver, clean cut and preppy and jcrew. when i used to dress in 30's-40's period costumes for my swing dance shows i always thought purcells looked better for the period than chucks

chucks can be as preppy as purcells, but i think they also have an anti establishment, alternative feel

i personally wear them both in all 3 of those contexts, except my chucks were hi-tops that i cut down to make into low tops so they have some cool fraying on the edges - looks good with shorts

Didn't want to start a new thread...but how do spring courts fit compared to chucks? I know chucks are a bit over sized, so curious about whether I should go true or size down for the courts (I'm ordering...no one near me has them). Thanks

I wear a us 8.5 in chucks and a euro 42 in spring courts. A size in between 42 and 43 would be ideal for me but they dont make them. The 42 are a little tight to begin with but stretch out within a few wears. Hope that helps

8.5 purcells (perfect fit) / 8.5 chucks (slightly loose)

41 springcourt G2 clay (perfect fit)
41 springcourt G1 classic (slightly loose)

I have two pairs of Purcells -- one white, one navy -- that I got really cheap. I've had them for about a year and haven't worn them much because I usually wear black Chuck high tops. I'll probably wear the Purcells a lot this summer to break them in.

There are *always* people on SF who vocally dislike Chucks. Always. Chucks are the black suit of the Streetwear forum.

Have you tried your local Target? Converse makes One Star specifically to be sold there.

I see no reason to chose. I have a few pairs of purcells and a few all-stars. I get why some people don't like either though. As for the one stars, I went over to a Target the other day specifically to try some on and they didn't have my size (12) in anything. My friend tried them on though and said they were alright but not as comfortable as his Purcells...matter of opinion I guess. However, I do feel that soon enough there will be a stigma attached to one stars for being prominently featured in Target commercials and being sold exclusively at a store many people brush off as Wal Mart for people with dental plans.
