I tried looking but couldn't find a guide to choosing jeans cut, rise and fabric based on current brands, can someone point me in the right place? In particular, I'm shorter and stouter, and am wary of articles that default to low rise skinny jeans. At the same time, I'd look at more tapered jeans with smaller leg openings than what I used to wear, so that the leg openings don't look out of proportion when worn with minimalist sneakers over work style boots.

I joined this forum when APC New Standards (and the advice to buy something that feels two sizes too tight--it will stretch out--was the norm) and I loved my first pair to death. That was a wonderful entry into raw denim: simple, unadorned and straight cut. It was also a time when this forum had the recurring dress shoes and dark raw denim threads. Among others, I also had a lighter 12oz pair of Sugarcanes that were wonderful in summers but those wore out much faster, plus a lighter pair of 45rpm.

I have not really been wearing jeans past years, having explored other more semi-formal pants choices, but now want to go out and buy just one raw pair to rekindle the love.

By the way, is there a good discussion somewhere on whether 21oz Iron Hearts are too heavy for summers? Back when I was breaking in my first pair of New Standards, people were already saying the loose weave makes them wearable during summer for some people.
