I have been wanting an extreme cutaway collar shirt but haven't come across one thrifting so I made one with another shirt I thrifted

this shirt previously was a slim fit arrow shirt with a HUGE 70s style button down collar but I fixed that...

if you can see from this spoiled picture I just folded the collar under and sewed the edge it took all of a couple minutes

sorry that this post doesn't really belong hopefully I will have an actual haul to show you later today, I am hitting about a dozen stores in my area

they prob put it through the washer and it shrunk so they donated it, that is why I never look at the tags of wool sweaters they can be misleading

Been spoiled having these guys 5 minutes away- www.nortonscleaners.com. Moving to LA next month (lease officially signed!) and I'm probably going to continue to give Norton's my service. Everything has been next day turnaround too. I can bring in thrift finds and they'll go item by item with me, placing little arrow stickers that say spot next to the spots I point out so that they can focus on those areas (guessing that's not too special but it's better than the last place I went).

The darkest of all matter and I spent the late afternoon hitting up some shops. That story comes when the pictures are done downloading.

Have only tried two cleaners so far. One was an absolutely awful experience and resulted in ruined clothing. The other at least returned the items to me in the condition they were given -- stains included

So yesterday I was up signing the lease on my new place and decided to hit up a shop that's going to be walking distance to me as of next month (that's going to be trouble).

Hadn't seen this before, but figured it was good, and it is(street wear). Size small- I'm convinced it's kid sized but I guess it isn't.


I see something gaudy and bright hanging on the side of the shoe racks... Hmm what's this? A Robert Graham shirt, so I grab it and stay in the area in case someone had just set it there for a second to look at shoes. Ok five seconds is enough and I walk away.

Then I get a call from DM7 and we discuss meeting up. You don't even have to thrift with him to find good things, you just have to come in contact with him somehow. Trying to convince him to open up an 800 number. No sooner than I hang up with him, a rack comes out in front of me that, among other things, had these on it.

Shirt on the bottom left was the one I found first. When the rack rolled out, for some reason I didn't take in what had assed me, just that it was men's shirts. The rack actually got rolled toward the women's side of the store, which I think was my saving grace. First comes an RG, then two Brioni shirts, then another four RG's. One by one I plucked them off the rack, trying my best not to **** myself in amazement nor spring wood. One of the Grahams, arguably the nicest feeling of the bunch and one that was actually wearable, had a few stains on the front that I wasn't up for risking. The Brioni's, sigh... One was regular priced but appeared to need the treatment and I don't think the fabric or buttons would be the same afterwards, it was a unique sort of weave. The other said Brioni for Neiman Marcus and thus was priced at $20, so I said nuts to that one as well, though I shed a tear because it was seriously sweet. End result - 5 RG's for the bay.

Then went and hit the shops with DM7. He pulled these from the racks for me, nwot and my size:


He also was generous enough to pass this find along to me because I wouldn't stop talking about how versatile I thought it was.



Appears to be current too, and as a darkmatter of fact, it's here.

His haul was just a so-so afternoon for him... But would have been an epic day for someone else.

The Hermes expires Sunday night. There are some other good ones on there, but I am still developing my eye.

the two HF's you got are from their diffusion (Dillards instead of Neimans) lines, but the tags look super recent. as long as they're not orphans i think you did good.

As for the chaps, not worth picking up unless it's something you're using for yourself. The old made in USA stuff is actually decent enough, but nothing with a chaps name is gonna re-sell.

Nom de Guerre is a great pickup. I don't know if it's sold around here so I have few hopes of snagging any but good on you for recognizing the name.


As far as me, a couple pickups. I stopped at a new-to-me independent thrift. I usually like these because while their selection doesn't turn over very often, foot traffic is low so great finds can stick around for awhile.

Case in point are these two near mint North Face rollneck wool sweaters from god knows when.














It's probably been 20+ years since North Face product was made in the USA, so I'm going to say early 80s.


Went back and picked up some Aldens I left behind yesterday. There is really only one issue besides a little touch up. Someone wrote "OK" in sharpie on the backside of either shoe. No idea why, but hopefully I can get it off. Any suggestions?

Had to drive into a rural area today to see a client, stopped at their Goodwill expecting nothing but Dockers shoes and Stafford Shirts, actually found some decent enough stuff (and by the way, I both hate and love that this forum got me thinking about whether or not some bumblef*ck town a meeting brings me to has a Goodwill!
