^Incredible. I know someone posted EGs a while back but I can't believe these finds. Congrats.

don't have any pics, but there was a pretty nice sale at Century 21 over the thanksgiving weekend. 25% off coupon on any one item you purchase. the rush in getting the deal was quite exciting since we only found out about the coupon when we got there and the store was closing, as was the deal. so we went on a mad search for some coupons. thankfully, a shopper had printed a ton of them and i asked and he gave me 2.

my dad got a corneliani suit for about 600 and i got a hickey madison for 400. great deals i think. my dad's suit is good for the season as it's a navy plaid suit. my hickey suit is a lighter blue plaid so more of a spring/summer suit. can't wait to wear it.

That's funny. I remember Stanley Blacker from 25 years ago as being relatively decent. Even now, at one of my thrifts, the same stylish, double-breasted navy blazer catches my eye every time and it's Stanley Blacker. Oh well.

Picked 2 recent Pink ties and a recent Gucci tie three or four times the regular thrift prices but I was very happy. Then found out Gucci has a big stain, looks like coffee mug put on it, and has a tear right behind at collar area. Tear can be sewn and not visible under shirt collar, but I don't know about the stain. Any advice? Is it worth the trouble?
Anyway, Pinks are keepers if I can find outfits to couple them.

Saw a Tom Ford era Gucci suit today. Made in Switzerland by Zegna. Size 40. I was like OMGAD! And then I saw the lining was ripped. And then I was like... aw. So I didn't get it, but I'm considering going back. It was only 20 bucks.

I've never been able to get a stain out of a tie, sadly. Drycleaning doesn't even phase them. If anyone has a method, please do tell.

Grab it. Linings can be replaced. Gucci/TF sells well on Fleabay.

Not a crazy day, but I found a few ties to make the trip worthwhile. Two are from a local company called Pierrepont Hicks. I had never heard of them before, but they seemed very well-made so I grabbed em. I also found my first Marinella tie. Last is a gorgeous RLPL. Here is the Pierrepont Hicks website, if anyone is interested. http://pierreponthicks.com/default.aspx One near-miss today. Found an orphaned pair of trousers from a recent Zegna Su Misura suit. Turned the store upside-down looking for the jacket with no such luck. Sad too, as this store is usually really good with putting out the whole suit (just seperated, most of the time). No central distribution facility with this chain. Sooo......some gonzo probably came along and grabbed the jacket but left the pants

Rubbing alcohol can make a stain go away, but in my experience it will leave an ever so light stain of its own at the edge of the soaked area, like a water stain. So I soaked the entire tie in alcohol, blotted dry, and then finished the drying with a blow dryer. It worked the first time I tried it. Tried it again on a vintage tie from the '50's and the colors ran. Didn't matter because it was ruined by the stain anyway. So why not give it a go on a thrifted $1 or $2 tie?

I've had very good results with my dry cleaner. He takes care not to press the tie and so it doesn't get ruined. I haven't had a tie come back yet that wasn't completely clean.
