^^ They don't call me Cap'n for nothin'

Haven't found a whole lot this week, but did pick this up yesterday.

Does your wife call you that, too? LOL

Stopped by the Sally Ann to pick-up a something for V day coming up and there was at least 10 Hugo Boss suits - Large to XL as tagged - full on double-breasted, two button, three button, the works, all $19.99 but none worked right except an 'Einstein' jacket that was a smidge too long. Half price sale on the 23rd. Will hold out for haul to flip.

Ended up with a beautiful custom jacket made in Saudi Arabia and this Zegna wool/rayon navy blue herringbone jacket with metal Zegna buttons. 52R. Made in Mexico.

Looking to get a date/decade for it - vintage or not? Thanks, Vlassis

I usually pass on Z Zegnas because Zegnas mainlines are pretty common around here.

kopped. Got home. Moth hole.

Ahhh dude, that suck, man!

Had a dream that I was looking through ties and found a bunch of Hermes. What's happening to me?

Meeh, it's normal, dude. Been having those dreams, too. Yet, I'm still SANE!!!

Something to consider should you ever come across an old, out of date Kiton suit that you're on the fence about buying:

Ciro Paone (Kiton founder):
"Bring me a Kiton suit that we made 30 years ago and I will give you a new one in return. I’m very sorry that I hardly have any pieces from our beginnings."

from this interview:
http://bernhardroetzel.blogspot.com/2011/02/simplicity-interview-with-ciro-paone.html

Not sure if the offer still stands, or how you would even go about contacting them, but...

Bookmarked and gonna print this out when I go visit him with a buttload of vintage Kiton suits.

Well a Zegna made in Mexico should have been your first clue. Most good Zegna suits are Made in Italy. a diffusion line is a lesser quality type tied to the main line for recognition purposes, sort of like Chaps by Ralph Lauren.

When i'm looking at suits i go by a few things, feel...if it feels like sandpaper i don't even bother. then i look at label and where it was made. Made in Italy, England , USA or Canada and I perk up.

I think Z Zegna suits do well, just like Hugo Boss suits does way better than HB SCs.

Since I was called out earlier stating that I haven't had any "real" hauls, here's some things I've picked up along the way the last 40 pages or so....

Isaia Blazer
Isaia 7-Fold Tie
GA Tie
RLPL Navy Tie
Billy Reid Coat
Billy Reid Henley
Eton Shirt
Borrelli Shirt
Corneliani ID Shirt
LP Vest
BB Cashmere Sweater

edit: oh.... and I forgot, a pair of Church's Chukkas

Holy ****, dude! You should post more often! Got anything in a 40s?

Thanks! That is a great blog with great information.
Nice first catch - Pretty rare find. Welcome to the coven.

Nice kicks! Thanks for the non-pic, you can see a lot of that type of stuff at "peopleofwalmart.com"

I believe that Dino Baldini is a mens store in New York (Madison Avenue maybe). Could be a house brand - check of manufacturer labels. Welcome - nice first post.

Stopped by a Buffalo Exchange after work today. There wasn't much in the way of MC, but SWD looked pretty good: they had RRL made in USA selvedge denim, The West is Dead chinos, Uniqlo selvedge denim, a pair of Japanese selvedge jeans (couldn't make out the brand)--and that was just from browsing quickly through pants/jeans in my size (I'm sure I missed some stuff). Unfortunately, I also got sticker shock--all but the Uniqlo pair were north of $30. I do regret not getting the chinos, though, I'll probably come back for those.

Stopped by a thrift after that, and saw mostly dated cords and chinos (many pleated and full-cut), as well as cheap jeans, so I left empty-handed there as well. It also reminded me how rarely I find any of the items I saw at the BE, so paying a bit more for them seems justified.

Found a pair of these a few days ago (dark brown and light subdued caramel). Is there a special name for the high slanted 80 degree pockets?

Pretty sure they are both store samples. Look & feel NWTO (you can just tell after seeing 1000's of jackets new and used), front pockets basted, basting thread on rear vents evident (not shut though), evidence of glued on tag that prob read "sample" which was removed but glue is evident. To list or not to list NWOT....that is the question

&

Hand warmer pockets. Do they measure about a size 40? Most samples are made in that size. If the basting thread is still there I wouls assume that they were unworn - NWOT.
Tagged Small - Measure spot on for a modern 40 (21" chest)

I'll be honest with you, for as much time as I've spent on the internet (since 1996!), I don't get a lot of today's things and am intimidated by them...tumblr being one of them. First question is, can you write as much as you want on tumblr?

I just posted a lengthy entry yesterday that admittedly lacked real information (what blog doesn't), so is something like that allowed?
Nice blog - Bookmarked. Are you on Facebook? You may want to link the blog to face book. Also you may want to check Styleforum, Luxswap.com and Put This On for link exchange.

WOW. Pretty sure thats a golden fleece suit retagged. AMAZING either way.

Are you guys just taking the yellow stickers off cheaper stuff?? Seriously WTF
lol8%5B1%5D.gif

Hah! I had my eye on that orphan blazer (no pants) for some time...was originally $499 (and tagged "compare to $1000"); then $249, then $199, then $99....when it hit $49 I figured - what the hell - might as well pick it up. I think it had been passed up because 1) no pants, and 2) people didn't know what to make of the "open" sleeve cuffs, not realizing there was a packet of buttons in the pocket so one could have it tailored and the buttons placed as desired.

Thanks Barrel! I definitely should post more, however I don't have much time to do so! Sorry, but nothing in a 40 brotha! Unfortunately, when I thrift I typically only pick up stuff that fits me (unless it's way to crazy to leave behind!).

Cross continent cheers, brother!

Cheers! I had a long 60= work week this week and my wife brought home a box of these. It's a big brewer in our region and we just happen to live 2 minutes away from their main brewery! :D

It's real and not a vintage label.  Not sure if it came before the one posted by androfan or after, so I can't help you on the age.

Like I said, I could be completely wrong, I just haven't ever seen it before.

Thanks! I'm not sure how receptive the big guys will be to it, but maybe I'll give it a shot. I want to talk about a few topics that I know well and then highlight things for both our European friends and the Americans. Hopefully I'll continue to have enough to write about to be able to post something every other day or so, but I'm always interested in hearing what other people want.

Thanks again for the advice!

How much were the RRL selvedge?

Any stuff you find like that is worth picking up whatever the size. That would all trade well here. Got any 42's?

BTW, Spoo is one of the most stand-up guys here! If you guys need any consigning at all.... he's the one to do it! Thanks for everything Spoo!
