I seem to recall having one. It was light brown rather than beige, but maybe that just happened to be the mac I had - not saying it was typical.

Regarding Skinhead girls, in the 60s, I don't think we ever looked at them as Skinhead Girls or called them skinheads, they was just girls...and i don't think they looked at themselves as Skinheads,
Early on they did not even wear any type of skinhead clothing, then they started to wear suits, the odd BD and later a Crombie, cant remember seeing a girl wearing a Harrington.

I suppose the later 79/80s scene you could label them Skinhead Girls, ??

Pretty accurate post there Roy. My girlfriend at the time '70-'71 had a couple of Tonic suits made to measure, white or pale lemon BS's, proper Crombie etc. but never saw her or her mates in a Harrington. Of course, girlfriends were called Doris' and later around late '70's/early 80's, Rene's.

I definitely know some girls considered themselves to be 'Skinheads' and have seen at least one photo of a girl in a Harrington (and know personally of one, at least, who wore one). Your perception of them could well have been different to how they perceived themselves.

They may well of looked at themselves as skinhead girls in hindsight, the boys did not really look at themselves as skinheads also, the only time the word skinhead was used was say at football if the Ref or a player was bald, the chant would be Skinhead Skinhead, my ex Wife who i have known since she was 14 and one year younger than me never considered herself a skinhead but wore all the clobber,
Skinheads was a Boys fashion. The girls who wanted to fit in and get noticed by the boys would try and dress similar, Also some girls at the time did not dress anything like a skinhead, we had a couple of good looking girls in our mob who dressed hippy.

Since we're on the topic of skinhead girls I thought I'd post this pic. Not really sure if its, 60s or 80s new breed.
What I found more interesting are the lose fitting pants held up only by the braces. Was it common for originals to wear their pants intentionally larger so as to make the braces more functional rather than just ornamental?

I think that photo is of originals, not 100% others on here would know, Jeans was loser back then, think i have mentioned this already also i have posted some pics of my jeans showing a loser fit,
When you look at some of the old pics of originals, the young skinheads would maybe buy their cherished Levi's a little bigger as to grow into them, Mum would have bought them, so she would want some wear out of them,
Also if you look at some old pics Lads jeans and Sta prest are pulled up around the bollocks due to the braces, so that answers the question,

The bottom clip i don't think i have put it on here before, if you read it ..even then the reporter of the time has got some of the facts wrong.

Their is also a story to the above clips, Della lived in Welwyn Garden City, the lad doing the talking was a ex Rocker, and also My mob the Kilburn and the Hendon use to invade the Cherry Tree a few times, now a Tescos,

Ok Thanks they definately look original.

On the topic of the fit of the jeans. I'm more partial to the classic levis 501s "shrink to fits" but I think it tends to hang looser than I remember from a few years back. Comparing my old ones from the 90s to my more recent aquisition of the same style, the newer 501s seem to fit looser than my older ones, even after shrinking them in the tub or sink. I've always been skinny and there was a time when I preffered my jeans snug fitting having caught the tail end of the 80s new breed revival, As I still like to wear my braces, over the years I found it pointless to wear them on snug fitting jeans.
On somewhat baggier fitting jeans braces look better imo. And so I now prefer them somewhat loose at the waist. And I'm not sure but a few pages back I think it was M o M who said braces actually make your pants hang better when worn with a coat or jacket. And the pics above definately attest to that.

Does this picture say '1970' to you Lasttye? I think it was taken much earlier and then just used for this article from a photo bank (or wherever they store such things).

I have a nice Aquascutum one. Wouldn't say that was cheap mate. But i know what you mean. Suppose they were more accesable those days.
