We Sydney folk are just far to busy making money to waste time, you know, socialising! Time is money!

Although... I have met the ColdEyedPugilist and can report that he is a thorough gentleman (and not nearly so violent as his alias would suggest)

Pens...I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention....but I will mention them anyway. I have three which I use - I just grab one in the morning and stick with it for the day. I have a Mont Blanc, a Lamy al-star and a Graf von Faber Castell (which I think has the best nib). Somone mentioned Sailor pens a while back. I have tried a few and the nibs on those are superb - if I get another pen, not that I need one, it will be a Sailor.

Many thanks to JM for the tie advice and others who weighed in RE - the linen shirt. I ended up getting these two ties;

Cornflower blue silk knit
Light cornflower blue with coral stripe silk knit

We'll see which one goes well with the suit on the day. Also picked up 3 white linen pocket squares, 1 with with navy edges, 1 with cornflower edges and the other with yellow edges. I think the yellow edged white PS would provide a good contrast against the navy suit and work well with either of the above ties.

Not to rain on your parade, but I personally found thetiebar's knits to be far to thin and insubstantial and don't wear mine at all.

Will be interested to see your opinions on them.

So not sure if anyone saw this or is interested, but Aus Post has essentially rendered their parcel lockers useless for 95% of online shoppers:

As you may be aware, Australia Post is adding more 24 / 7 Parcel Locker locations across Australia following the success of its recent trial. We are now in the process of establishing an extensive network of Parcel Lockers at 250 locations nation-wide over the next two years.

From 1 January 2013, only parcels which are sent using Australia Post or its subsidiary, StarTrack will be delivered into our Parcel Lockers. Carriers who choose not to use Australia Post or StarTrack to send parcels into our Parcel Lockers have been advised to contact the sender or customer to organise an alternative delivery address.

For information about what happens when a parcel addressed to a Parcel Locker is sent using another carrier, please see the FAQ Can carriers other than Australia Post deliver parcels to the 24/7 Parcel Lockers?.

I like the three I have (rust, kelly green and red) and fxh wore one that looked pretty good. Still they are definitely in a different class to Henry Carter, Drakes or High Tied BUT they're also at a different price point. They're fine for what they are.

I currently own a few of their ties, one of which is a silk knit. Whilst I most definitely agree that their knit ties are quite thin and pretty poorly woven together, for the price they are acceptable. They also ship quite fast which is really all that I am after as I've left this a little too late.

If I had more time on my hands I would have chose another maker, however for this occasion they will fit their need. Ties are something that I don't spend a lot on (HC members tie is the most expensive I've ever bought). Whilst I appreciate the skill in making a tie as well as the fabric used, it's just an item I have an issue paying a lot for. I'd rather get a few cheap ties and spend the rest of my money elsewhere.

Owen & James just signed up with Parcel Point - only in Syd/Vic at this stage but allows customer to return via convenience stores and if popular we will allow delivery to a Parcel Point location which are a bunch of 7-elevens and convenience stores that open long hours.

I know that UPS utilise this same parcel point pick - up service. I must admit it is mighty convenient being able to swing past at 11pm at night, rather than try and fit in with Australia Post who open at 9:01 and close at 4:59.
