The book has sold out I believe. I tried to buy it 5 days after it came out and there was only one Dymocks store in Sydney with a copy left.

Really hoping they print a second run.

I rang Penguin. Its in print and selling well. But as with most books - the bookshops only carry one copy at a time and order it in as needed. Should be in "most good bookshops"

As a wool producer it is refreshing to see members of this forum taking an interest in the Australian wool industry.
For the record quality wool prices are currently quite bullish, though I’m not holding my breath.

p.s. I have been learning a great deal from this forum but this is my first post, so hello.

Thanks for that.

I'm interested in this, being an ex sheep farmer and shearing shed worker as well as a wool wearer.

A mark of the best wool is a label Australian Merino - yet we have no weaving/ cloth industry to speak of at all.

Did you buy the book online?

I cant find it online to order

Your in Melbourne try Reading's they have an online presence or you could travel to Carlton visit the bookshop and buy it.:D

If I have time I would also be interested in reading this. After living for 12 years in rural NSW I also wonder how much the prolonged drought damaged the wool industry.

Yes also welcome aboard, you've probably learned already that this thread is free of the snark that comes in droves in many of the other threads around here.

I'd be interested to know what region your farm is in and the type's of wool you are producing, if you don't mind of course.

Welcome aboard!

I have to say that since discovering SF, I have been keen to learn more about what I wear so I can make better choices. I'd be keen to hear more insights about wool, particularly the technical stuff. It's a great fabric and I know Australia produces some of the best stuff in the world. I've always wondered why we just send the raw material OS and get other countries to value-add and then sell it back to us, that seems a little weird to me. I guess that's globalization for you.

I don’t mind

South West Slopes, NSW. Producing fine wool (average under 19μm), from the merino flock.
Quiet a modest operation mixed with prime lamb, beef and cropping enterprises.

Welcome to the forum. My parents taught us from a young age to buy wool and always get the best quality fabric/knits you can afford.
