hey im 18, 5 ft 6 and i weigh 120 pounds, i get told that i am very skinny but my bodyfat is 16% and i have a flabby stomach, even though i do work out and kickboxing. i can see absolutely no definition in my abs at all and a fat layer is covering them! so im on a diet and do you think if i create the calorie deficit, my abs will start to show? in other words, if i lose weight will i lose fat as a result? i just feel that if i try to gain weight, then i will never see my abs. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

It depends. If you go on a calorie deficit but don't eat the right things, and don't strength train, you'll lose a lot of what little muscle you have. To be at your height and weight, work out and do kickboxing and still be in such terrible (sounding) shape, your diet must be absolutely horrible- is it?

Just be healthy, it is the only diet that works in the long run.

Also if your introverted, go outside for long walks, hang out with the homeless. Seriously when I live in a city with sidewalks during the summer months I loose so much bodyfat; most likely because I often forget about eating.

Walk at least two miles a day, eating only plants, it's the wave of the future man.

i think i eat relatively well, my only addiction is biscuits, but then i dont overeat those either! i drink plenty of water, i love fresh fruit and i eat a lot of chicken and tuna, and drink milk which is sometimes full fat! i have no sugar in my tea or coffee but sometimes i do have a chocolate as a treat once a week! im starting to think it could be a medical issue, could it be an abnormal metabolism lol its so frustrating. and its not as though im a lazy dog who sits around all day either.

do you find it hard to gain weight? or do you find it easier to lose?

If i were you, I would just focus on building muscle. You are really, really skinny, and being on a diet would just make you skinnier.

If you focus on building muscle, as long as you build more muscle than fat, your body fat% will go down.

The best way to decrease you precent body fat is by weight training and running. Lifting weights increases your muscle mass, while burning the fat from your body. Also, if you just diet, you could possibly lose weight, but it will be all over your body, not just your abs. Eat a diet high in protein or drink a whey protein shake from GNC and make sure you drink TONS of water. Water helps increase the size of your muscles when you lift and helps burn fat. You will gain weight, loss fat, and be overall more healthy with a plan something like this.
