I look great with or without a smile, but I usually put on a "false facade" for the cameras.

Is there any reason why SF members might be biased in favor of not smiling? I'd like to use this poll to convince my fiancee that I'm really not that abnormal, but I can already foresee the counter-argument.

No. I hate smiling for the camera. My smile is somewhat asymetrical due to an injury (fell on my face).

i look really stupid with a fake smile (stupidererer than usual),so when someone is taking a pic and i want to smile i sometimes try to think of something funny. maybe if i had a fun time petting a dog that morning, or had a funny conversation with my cat.

Well, this is just my personal stance, but i think a photography works best when it captures a moment that's spontaneous, as if the subject didn't know or forgets they were being photographed at that moment. That sounds a bit contrived, lemme try phrasing it in a better way...if the photographer is interacting with the subject while shooting, telling jokes, making funny banter whatever, it is more likely to produce a more "real" reaction, rather than simply standing there trying to smile for the camera for the sake of doing so without anything else to trigger such an expression. Smiles and laughter work best when they are real. If I am taking a photo such as a WAYWT, i have no reason to smile because my goal is just to take the photo with the clothes...likewise when travelling and taking photos at landmarks or group photos at parties. If it's just taking the photo for the sake of doing so, hard to elicit a natural smile from me.

The dandy thrives on feigned indifference, and not for better.
