I also have similar measurements - 29 X 31 - and have a hard time finding pants that fit. What else have you looked at? I am not razy about Gap or BR pants - too casual and not classy.

Really I think they are a regular fit. What do you guys consider leg opening to be for SLIM pants? Just got some BoO shirts and need to start to find some slimming khakies to go along with them.

i thought j crews essential fit was their slimmest chino isn't it? the description on the website makes it out that way.

anybody have the j.crew officer chinos? i'm on the hunt for a pair of chinos for the spring and those have my interest. looking for something comfortable, casual (no dress chinos), and durable. these look like they cover the bases. i had the RRL officer chinos but something was off about the fit for me.

Have you tried their Classic-fit essential chino? Colours and cuff make them a little more casual and the fit is fairly slim for a chino.

i haven't. from the look of their pics, the officers may what i'm looking for. i'm kind of leery of chinos in general because a lot of the time they look funky at the top. i went ahead and ordered their version of the officers to see how it works out. i figure my local shop is more likey to have the regulars in stock so if the officers don't work out i can just go try a swap. i'll post a report when they get here.

i wear xs BoO and the j.crew essential fit chino in their smallest size does not match very well at all.
i guess i just have to save for some mjk khakis.

best ones i know of are mjk, gap, and jcrew, and if you are looking for something very cheap try dockers, they are now selling slim fit khakis, i got one and the fit is not half bad.

The Acne ones in the write up on Presidential style in this months GQ are nice, though fetch a pretty penny.
