I had somewhat similar thoughts. I always thought McCartney had sort of an agenda (conscious or subconscious) in marrying that woman:

"See what a nice person I am: I am fabulously rich and one of the most famous and beloved men in the world. I could have had my choice of any number of the most desirable women in the world, yet I chose one who was seriously mutilated because I am such a good and noble fellow."

Was this before or after he became Sir?

A little more than 5% of your assets (based on the conservative $800 million figure) to buy off your divorced wife isn't such a terrible price.

Damn, it's still a lot of hot hookers.

Paul did very well, good for him. I thought he was worth like 1.7 billion and they had the settlment in a huge possibility range of like $50-$500 mil.

I have absolutely NO sympathy for him.
I don't care if she's really the b*tch the British press is making her out to be.
Of all the woman he could've picked, he picked her. Make the choice, gotta live with the consequences.

Yes the consequences is $48 million, but it's still chump chance given his overall wealth. I was really hoping she'd stick it to him good, to the tune of half of his fortune. The look on his face were this to happen would be worthy of the Mastercard commercial: Priceless!

+1 to the above comments...$48M is actually very cheap considering what they say he is worth, plus the fact he did not have a prenup.

From $800 million to $1.7 billion, depending on whom you ask.

Didn't he just ink a deal with Apple for 400mil to release the Beatles catalog on Itunes? 48mil and he's done w/ her, plus he gets to keep his castle. She gets 70k a yr in child support and complains that the daughter will have to travel economy whilst the Sir travels first class. I want to punch this lady in the throat.

I've always had a "thing" for one-legged women.

If only she had just a touch of a heart condition....
