Is it customary to tip lingerie models?

I think you're supposed to tuck dollar bills in the front of her shorts.

Not sure if this expected. Your thoughts?

I call bullshit on this. Like everyone else, I find it very hard to believe there's a lingerie store out there with women standing around to try it on so you can check them out. I find it even harder to believe that you didn't get slapped in the face for tipping the models like strippers.

Then I re-read the post, and the italicized part jumped out at me. What other women are you buying lingerie for? Are you getting an early start on Christmas shopping?

Have you seen Enemy of the State? Will Smith walked into an establishment like this. So the concept is definitely out there.

If it were real, why wouldn't he just tell the first person who asked what store it was.

Of course you don't tip them. That allows the possibility of some seediness to enter the equation. Prior to that, you're a customer and she's a salesman, and modeling garments is not unusual in the trade. Consider this an extension of that principle. If you were to tip, you'd automatically be saying this is different. And that's exactly what you don't want to highlight.

There was a store, now fallen into disrepute if it even still exists in my old neighborhood that definitely had such sales techniques. They sold all types of high end goods -- from kitchenware and chocolates, to furniture and clothing.

Now, what store is this? You cannot post this and not fess up.

I too have been aware of establishments like this for many years, but I thought you just went in to ogle the models, not seriously shop for lingerie. Didn't even know they existed anymore, but I think their heyday was back in the '70s or maybe early '80s.

Now do you buy the actual item that they have worn, or do they get you a "fresh one"?
