Am I chasing a Unicorn? Slimfit jeans that sit on or above the waist?

I am having a terrible time finding some jeans. I am wanting a pair or 2 of slim fit straight leg jeans that fit on or above the waist for under $75. Why do all the slim fit options sit below the waist? Any suggestions on where to find my unicorn?

Don't know any under $75, but Tellason's Sheffield have a nice mid rise.

Find some 501s as cheap as possible and have em tapered.

They already offer the 501'ct' which is tapered but i dunno if they altered the rise. Might be worth a look.

Also, american apparel does full rise but i dunno the fits. Might also be worthwhile since they run dealz currently.

Under $75?? I'm interested in this too and even at higher prices this is hard to find. I went down to Self-Edge in LA and they didn't have any.

Hey! That is 3x what I normally spend on a pair of jeans!

Why the heck are they so hard to come by?

They haven't been in style since the 90s. That said, the 90s are already back for women and starting to for men so in a few years I'm sure they'll be easier to find. Meanwhile, good luck.

Is it really practical to have something like a 501 tailored into being a slim fit? They are so much larger. I would think it would almost be like sewing a whole new pair of jeans. Just asking because I am new to tailoring and don't know these things. I would think if anyone could just buy any old 501 off eBay and have then easily transformed into the perfect jean then everyone would be doing it.
