Indochino suits?

I'm new so maybe this is a stupid question - but why do people keep using indochino when it has such bad reviews? I never hear the same type of poor reviews concerning thick as thieves or that guy who visits from Hong Kong every once in a while...
The recent posts in this thread seemed to indicate they were getting better. That and the 25% off + free accessory + free shirt was too good to pass on.

shoulders are funky indeed, that's a problem of them I have noticed a couple of times now! I'd probably go for a full remake? Hope mine doesn't turn out that weird!

About the shipping time, I had ordered on the 24th of March and never got any information that the 2-week delivery would not work. I should get it by Saturday, but I somehow have some doubts about that now.

I'm planning on contacting their customer service or their marketing guy directly as soon as I gather some more reviews for my blog. There must be a way to get rid of those funky shoulder issues at the root and if not, then perhaps I need to rethink my opinion of Inodchino...

@Quatsch: would you mind if I put your photos together with your review on my blog? As Indochino is an internet company, we have all the power to demand value for our money...

I'd been thinking of trying one of Indochinos suits after reading some favorable reviews on some blogs, but after seeing the photos here, I'm pretty sure that's now completely out of the question.

Go ahead. Something else I'd like to point out is that the lapel roll ends three inches about where the first button is (its a two-button jacket. It looks as if they made a three-button coat and simply never cut a whole for the top button. I think I'm going to just get a refund and then spring for something a bit nicer and more classic, but having the length exactly as I wanted was awesome.

I was going to order a suit from Inodchino for an upcoming convention in July. Now I have second thoughts.

I dont know, despite how badly that turned out, I would probably give it another shot - I mean the price is certainly right. However I will say that for essentially the same money (when on sale) the J Crew suit I have from last year is probably better quality, although you don't get to specify the details.

Has anyone in here ordered any of the sportcoats or blazers? i would guess all of the measurement/shoulder issues will persist, but can anyone speak to the quality (or lack thereof) found in the Seersucker jacket, the Navy Blazer, or the Classic Navy Blazer?

Okay so my first assessment was overly optimistic. I think the pants are fine. The suit has problems in the shoulders and sleeves. I requested a soft shoulder and while the shoulder itself has little or no padding, the top of the sleeve seems to have a fair bit, and I'm unsure about the effect this creates. But yeah, like I said the shoulders are prettty big. In a couple of these pictures I tried to indicate the distance between my shoulder joint actually ends and the shoulder of the jacket - the place where the seams running from your neck down meet the sleeve seam. The sleeves are too big in between the shoulder and the forearm. Probably all the way down. How do you guys think I should handle this? Salvageable?

Also - the sleeves are unhemmed - i just rolled them back in a bit, and sorry, I guess my mirror is dirty.

Have you measured to see how much the actual suit was off from your measurements?

The good thing about Indochino is they have $75 tailor credit and a free remake, which I took advantage of. It's hard to get the measurements right the first time. When you do in-person MTM you usually do 2-3 fittings and probably more with bespoke.

The one compliant I have with all online MTM is the shoulders. Neither my Indochino or TaT suits got the shoulders right. Our shoulder slope and whether they lean forward are completely straight can make a huge difference. I wish they would provide more tips on measuring and defining your shoulder type.

I think one thing should be kept in mind - Indochino doesn't regard your first suit to be the final product. They assume that alterations have to be made and they pay for it - then adapt your measurements and your next suit should be fine. I guess you have to expect that right thing - but I have to say that Quatsch's suit turned out a bit too weird to say much positive about.

How do they "adapt your measurements?" Are you supposed to send the suit back to them after you've gotten it fixed by a local tailor? Or are you just supposed to measure the fixed suit yourself and send them the measurements. If the latter, why couldn't they have gotten it right based off of the measurements you sent them the first time around?

If you go to a tailor to have your suit fixed, he should write down the changes he took. E.g. waist -1 inch, shoulders -0,5inches, and so on. There is a pdf online that helps you with this process. You then go online and adapt your original measurements to reflect the changes that were necessary. This way, the next suit will be just fine (at least, that is the theory behind). As mentioned, they pay the bill of the tailor for up to 75$.

Alternatively, you can just send the suit back and let them know what you think is wrong and they will redo it completely.

Indochino made things right by me with the expired redflagdeal code. They did not give me everything the code allowed for, but close enough to try their product. I will give feedback when I receive the shirt and suit.

I ordered a linen suit on March 30, and received the suit on April 8th, which was an extremely quick turnaround. I had my wife measure me, but used some measurements from when I had my tuxedo made (from Barney's, not Indochino), like that for my shoulders. I would say I am extremely hard to fit, since I have a 10 inch drop, overdeveloped traps, and other weirdness going on from too much lifting.

That said, I was pretty pleased with the speed of delivery, and the result. For $248, I received a nice, slim fitting shirt, some cufflinks I will never probably wear, and a suit that is workable. The shoulder width is spot on. There is excess fabric near my lats in the back, and too much waist suppression, but I am hoping a trip to the tailor can take care of that. The sleeves on the jacket are about 1/4" too long. The pants fit perfectly.

The linen is really coarse, and doesn't drape well at all, but again, for $248, I don't think I can complain too much. They also used a different lining than what the web site said it would come with, which is probably my biggest complaint. I emailed them about it, and am waiting to hear what they say. If everything was perfect and didn't require a trip to the tailor for some tweaks, I wouldn't worry about the lining, but since it will require some fixes anyway, I am wondering if it's worth it to get the lining addressed.

Anyway, for the cost and the end product, I am generally pleased. I think I would order a cotton suit or some other suit "for fun" from them, but not something where I am dressing to impress, if that makes any sense.
