Wow Dubz.. Those are incredible. Tassels was the source or AoM? Chromexcel, does it wear like Calf or Shell. The leather seems thick, wonder if it will stretch out too much. And then the unknown ritual of keeping them looking nice. I'd use Nano on Suede but this leather is unknown to me. I do notice it creases like shell straight up. Thanks, didn't want to search the whole last Alden Thread. Been a very busy week around the house with my wife having BC surgery yesterday. So far so good on that ****** deal. Wished it had been me instead, this is a principled gril who should not have to go through this. Me on the other hand. ..

I have been itching to get a black cordovan indy on antique soles made so I contacted Alden on the matter.


Thank you for your inquiry.

It is not possible. We can use antique welt with black calf but not black cordovan.

Such a shame. As if Black shell was somehow different then all the recent color 8/antique make ups that have been coming out. Seems like there's a lot of demand for Black/antique.

Chippy, these were a run done by Alden Madison a few years back.

Chromexcel is in between Shell and Calfskin in my opinion. It has some of the features of both materials. It will stretch though. It actually doesn't really crease like Shell. Its a softer material and it gets the finer creases that you would expect to see in a calfskin as opposed to the rolls more commonly seen in shell.
